I have always been the kind of guy that is kept up on server technology. I feel like because I handle server administration all day at my job, I should really know the equipment like the back of my hand. I have done a lot of courses with HP, IBM, Dell, and Sun, and as a result I’ve been able to gain a lot of server experience over the years. One thing that I do know is that backing up the data on pretty much every server, including raid servers, is a very important way to avoid having to contact a professional to do server repair. What you have to realize in situations that a server had broken down is that usually the server is fine. In fact, it usually ends up being the hard drive that has crashed which can be a very expensive problem for any organization. This is why backing up is so critical.
Sun Solaris Server Repair
I feel like I have enough experience at this point to be pretty comfortable with pretty much every kind of server hardware platform that I come across. I even managed to work with some Sun Solaris servers over the past couple of years, and I have to say that they are actually pretty decent platform. But unfortunately, if there is a problem with some of the Solaris servers, it has to do with the fact that the hard drives are pretty weak. I had a call on a lot of server repair technicians in order to make sure that the hard drives were okay, and what they end up doing is just referring me to a data recovery service company. I can certainly understand this, because I know how complex the raid five platform can be. I think it ever you have some kind of multiple hard drive failure with any kind of server, you probably need to contact a raid data recovery company immediately.
Help with Server Repair
I understand that calling on a server repair companies is probably just part of my job as a computer administrator. I think from the software side I am very comfortable with dealing with servers, no matter their configuration. I’ve actually taken a few courses on raid configurations, and I feel like I’m pretty comfortable with the way striped raid arrays work as well. This is not to say that I know anything about raid data recovery, which of course you have to leave to the professionals, but I will say that I am pretty skilled when it comes the servers. Still, I think one of the most important task that pretty much every IT administrator have to learn is to delegate. You have to recognize when your skills that just isn’t good enough, and when it comes to any kind of data recovery your server repair, I understand that I’m just not skilled. I need help, and I’m going to get it.
